Rams Defense, Passing Attack, Enough To Outlast Brady

For the second week in a row the Rams defense showed just how dominant it can be by shutting down one of the league's best offenses. No one would argue that Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game and this year the future hall of famer is surrounded by the most talented weapons that he has ever had in hi long career. On Monday night the Rams defense was able to keep Brady off balance with constant pressure forcing the veteran to make costly mistakes, throwing two interceptions to rookie safety Jordan Fuller. The last of which sealed the victory for Los Angeles.

On offense the Rams relied on their quarterback Jared Goff and the passing game to effectively move the ball on Tampa's touted defense. Surprisingly head coach Sean McVay all but abandoned the ground game and the balanced offense that had been so successful this season and put the game exclusively in the hands of his fifth year signal caller. Goff responded with a 39/51, 376 yard, 2 touchdown performance. Tampa Bay had no answer for the Rams duo of Cooper Kupp (11-145-0) and Robert Woods (12-130-1) who were open all game. Both Ram receivers broke through tackles for big gains all night. Despite being one dimensional the Tampa defense were rarely able to shut the Rams offense down.

From The Rams Website:

Kicker Matt Gay's go-ahead 40-yard field goal with 2:36 left and rookie safety Jordan Fuller's interception 47 seconds later lifted the Rams (7-3) to a 27-24 win Monday Night Football win over the Buccaneers (7-4) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The victory moved the Rams moved into first place in the NFC West and also marked a night of several individual milestones.

Rookies Van Jefferson and Cam Akers each recorded their first NFL touchdown; Jefferson on a 7-yard pass from quarterback Jared Goff midway through the second quarter, Akers on a 4-yard pass from Goff late in the third. Fuller's interceptions were the first two of his NFL career; the first pick set up Akers' score.

Rams wide receiver Robert Woods posted 130 yards on a team-high 12 receptions with one touchdown, while Kupp had a team-high 145 yards on 11 receptions.

Goff, meanwhile, was 39 of 51 for 376 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. His third gave him 103 for his career, moving him past Kurt Warner for fifth on the franchise career passing touchdown list.

Gay made 2 of 3 field goal attempts and all three of his extra point attempts in his Rams debut.

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel. The Pirate's Cove would have been an obvious tourist destination that could have brought much needed tax dollars and employment oppo...

Abandoned Louisiana - The Old Hightower Family Home in Dodson

I have to admit that I have been hanging on to these photos for a couple of months now just looking for the right minute to post them. Back in November I was traveling up to El Dorado, Arkansas and I passed through the small town of Dodson. While driving through town my eyes spotted a very attractive old house up on a hill and I just had to stop and take a few photos of it. I honestly don't know the history of this house, but I'm sure some local will send me message telling me all about it (and someone did see the UPDATE ), and it's not as cool as an abandoned railroad locomotive or old movie house but it really spoke to me. I have to wonder about the people who used to live in it and how it ended up in the state it is now. Anyone can see that it was a beautiful house long ago. What happened? How did such a grand residence end up like this? Those are questions that I can't answer unfortunately.  Unfortunately a site like this isn't all that uncommon here in Louisian...
