From Funimation
In late 2019, Funimation announced it would be bringing the cult classic anime franchise Robotech to streaming, home video and more. Well, get ready to suit up, pilots, because we’ve got the breakdown on what’s coming for Robotech this year!
First up, we’re excited to announce that Robotech will be arriving on Blu-Ray on September 28 in Dolby TrueHD for the very first time through a special, exclusive collector’s edition of the series from Funimation in the United States and Canada. This collector’s set includes:
All 85 episodes of Robotech: The Series
An exclusive dual pack of figures, including a variant of Roy Focker’s Transforming Robotech – VF-1S and Roy Fokker in Pilot Uniform
Four military-style 3′ patches
Oh, and did we mention? We’ve remastered the ENTIRE series in high definition, all while retaining the series’ original aspect ratio. This release will contain the original film grain and is true to the original DVD box set release.
A standard edition release for the United States and Canada is also planned for each part of Robotech, starting with Robotech: The Macross Saga on September 28, followed by The Masters on November 16 and The New Generation on December 14.
Next up is streaming. This fall, the entirety of Robotech: The Series will join the expansive Funimation catalog. All of it will stream in English dubbed format—and yes, it will be the remastered version!
The series will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Chile. Oh, and as a special bonus, we’re also adding Robotech II: The Sentinels and Robotech the Shadow Chronicles in standard definition.
Finally, awesome anime merch and partnerships. We’re working with our licensing team across video games, apparel, collectibles and publishing to bring the nostalgic love for Robotech right to you!
Remember Robotech: The Macross Saga for the Game Boy Advance? It’s back in a special HD Edition! You can play it right now on Nintendo Switch. And in the coming months, you’ll see apparel from Bioworld at Hot Topic, Spencers and Atsuko.
And if that’s not enough, there are also the special Robotech Visual Archives from Udon Entertainment. To say we’re excited for this release (which includes never-before-published artwork!) would be an understatement.
When Robotech premiered in 1985, the action adventure sensation shaped an entire generation of anime fans. Since then, it’s grown into a global phenomenon, spawning films, toys and much, much more. There’s even a Hollywood live-action adaptation on its way from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
As always, keep it locked to Funimation for information on Robotech, including release dates, additional streaming info and more as we roll through the year.
