Locomotives Operating Around Union Pacific's West Colton Yard

 Photos By Ken Hulsey

The enormous rail yard in West Colton, California was built by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1973. The complex would fall under the flag of the Union Pacific when the railroad merged with the SP in 1996. On this hot summer day the yard was very busy with several trains moving through. On the property were examples of  UP, BNSF and even a relic from the old Southern Pacific power in operation.
