A Rails West Photo Special: Trains Along The Mississippi River

Railfans in Louisiana are blessed in the fact that they can view trains headed by motive power from all seven North American Class 1 railroads operating on trackage owned by other railroads. Trains powered by locomotives from the BNSF, Norfolk Southern and Canadian National roll past my house on the Union Pacific line from Baton Rouge to Shreveport every day. A prime example of this is captured in the photo above where a mixed Canadian National freight is being lead by locomotives from the CSX and Union Pacific.
