In northern Texas late afternoon and evening thunderstorms are nothing unusual in the summer months. I was lucky enough to catch this one as it formed just north of Vernon, Texas. The shot is looking north up highway 283 that heads towards Altus, Oklahoma. To the left is Bolton's Crown Quality Mill.
This scene holds some special memories for me. I used to live in Vernon way back in the mid to late 70s. Bolton's grain elevator could be seen from miles around since it was the tallest structure in town. My mother used to take me to this location so I could watch trains go by. I have fond memories of the town, life in northern Texas and those summer storms.
