Upcoming Sessions
We have two volunteer sessions this month, March 7-10 and March 22-24. A mini excavator rental for tie replacement has been set up for this week and some volunteers will be working Thursday and Friday. If by chance you can assist Thursday and Friday, please let me know. We'll of course be working Saturday and Sunday as well. Thank you to everyone who has helped with equipment, tools, and planning for this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, we'll be working in various groups with the mini excavator, motorcars and flatcars, and generators. If you have it, please bring ear and eye protection, a hardhat, and gloves. Long pants and boots recommended. I'll be bringing some additional eye and ear protection and hardhats for those that will need it on the weekend. We'll be replacing ties, getting them tamped and leveled, drilling holes, setting spikes, gauging, and spiking new ties in place. There is of course plenty of help needed that is not directly working on the track (moving supplies & tools, transporting people, etc), so there is a role for anyone and everyone on these weekends.
Upcoming Motorman, Conductor, and Tour Guide Opportunities
There are two upcoming opportunities for volunteers at the museum as motorman, conductor, commissary/gift support, and tour guide.
The Forest Hill Nursery Festival is Saturday, March 16. The museum will have a booth at the festival and there is normally a larger visitor crowd at the museum. If you can assist as an M4 motorman, conductor, support the staff in the commissary, or assist as a tour guide on this day, please let me know.
On Saturday, April 27, a group of local Churches will once again host their annual Color Run. We will again need volunteers as M4 motorman, conductor, support the staff in the commissary, and tour guides. If you can help, please let me know. We'll have more details on the Color Run, such as the course, start time, etc. later this month.

Intrepid Volunteers Are Still Working On The Railroad in Central Louisiana
Each one of these volunteers share in the dream that they are diligently working towards making a reality. They all share in a love for railroads and history, it is passion to them. This passion runs so deep that many of them travel several hours just to come to work and even bitter cold and pouring rain isn't enough to deter a single one of them from getting the job done.
