A Guilty Pleasure: Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

I'm afraid that I'm getting old ... I love a show on PBS. Then again I did discover "Monty Python", "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", "Benny Hill" and "Doctor Who" on PBS ... I guess I'm cool again.

Here's some background:

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries is an Australian drama television series. It was first broadcast on ABC on 24 February 2012. The series revolves around the personal and professional life of Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis), a glamorous private detective in 1920s Melbourne. Three series have been broadcast, beginning in 2012. Television stations in other nations have picked up the series, and Netflix has the series available in many countries.

The series is based on author Kerry Greenwood's novels and was created by Deb Cox and Fiona Eagger. Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries revolves around the personal and professional life of Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis), a glamorous private detective in 1920s Melbourne. In the first series, a running theme is the kidnapping and death of Phryne's younger sister Janey when they were children watching a circus, a crime that still haunts Phryne, feeling she should have protected her sister.

Esther "Essie" Davis (born 7 January 1970) is an Australian actress. She is best known for her roles as Phryne Fisher in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and Amelia Vanek in The Babadook. Other major work has included a recurring role as actress Lady Crane in season six of the television series Game of Thrones, and the role of Elizabeth Woodville in the television series The White Princess, an adaptation of Philippa Gregory's historical novel.

It makes me fantasize about living 1920s Australia ... there's just something about a sexy woman with a gun.
