Catching Up With: The Preatures


 I have been holding back the urge to post about one of my favorite bands, The Preatures, for quite some time, hoping that they would release a new album. It's been three years since their last release, Girlhood, which was just amazing. My main fear after such an absence was that the band had broken up. I did a little searching this evening and learned that the band is headlining a music festival in Australia next year so my fears were put to rest. 

The truth is The Preatures are a band who really love performing live and generally record an album every three years. In other words, they would rather be on tour then in the studio.

In lieu of any new material to feature I thought it would be good idea to catch people up with their prior singles. Here are some videos from The Preatures:












The Preatures are an Australian band from Sydney. The band was formed in 2010 and features Isabella 'Izzi' Manfredi on vocals/keyboards, Jack Moffitt (guitar), Thomas Champion (bass) and Luke Davison (drums). Gideon Bensen was a member of the band until 2016. In 2013, the band won the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition with their song "Is This How You Feel?".

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

 About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel.
