If you have been following along with my posts lately you have probably noticed that I have been diving into my photo archives for content from time to time. Generally that means traveling back in time about a decade or to talk about my time living in California. Tonight I'm going way, way, way back to the 1980s when my family returned to Vernon, Texas to visit family.
In the late 70s our family left the quaint farming town of Vernon and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico at the southern tip of the Rockies. At least twice a year we would travel back to North Texas to visit my uncle JG and his family. On one such trip we traveled south of Vernon to visit another relative who I believe was one of our cousins. She had a little place on the shores of Lake Kemp. Being the adventurous young lad that I was I ventured out to the waters edge just about sunset armed with my little Kodak box camera.
I found it interesting how way back in my teenage years I had the same eye for composition and lighting that I use in my photography today. I guess that I have always been a sucker for sunlight through trees and sunlight on the water.
