Ken's Hot Traxx - Cannons: Heartbeat Highway

The Los Angeles based indie pop trio Cannons have released an album that is the perfect soundtrack for the 21st century.

From Sony Music:

The 12-song project follows CANNONS’ 2022 album Fever Dream and marks their first collaborations with co-writers and producers in Jason Evigan, Tyler Spry, Mike Elizondo, Mikky Ekko, and Jenn Decilveo on select tracks. Featuring lead singles “Crush,” “Desire,” “Bad Tattoo,” and “Loving You,” which is nearing top 10 at Alternative radio, Heartbeat Highway takes listeners on a ride through the heart’s ups and downs.

In speaking about the album, frontwoman Michelle Joy says: “The highway of life starts and ends with the most beautiful music in the world, a heartbeat. It’s a rhythm so strong the only right thing to do is to follow it wherever it may lead. For us, that rhythm has led to the creation of our 4th album Heartbeat Highway, which is inspired by the many roads we have traveled over the past few years of touring and following our hearts as a band and individuals. We invite you to embark on a soul stirring journey through the intricacies of love, desire, heartbreak, and passion with us and hope you love it as much as we loved making it for you!”

CANNONS have quickly become a live show mainstay. Following their first-ever Coachella performance and TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in April, CANNONS previewed their new LP to fans across the US and Canada during the sold-out North American leg of their global ‘Heartbeat Highway’ tour, which included packed shows at NYC’s Terminal 5 and LA’s Greek Theatre. After playing shows in Australia and Japan for the first time last month, the band will head to Europe in March for another run of headline dates. CANNONS will also bring their captivating performance to a slew of holiday radio shows next month as well as Audacy’s Riptide Music Festival.

Ken's Music Pick - The Bamboos: This is How You Do It

The Bamboos latest release, entitled This Is How You Do It, is a perfect example of how they seamlessly blend all of the different elements I mentioned above into music that seems to transcend generations. If you are someone who is into old school jazz and funk you will love it. If you are someone who is into pop and hip-hop you will certainly dig the vibe of this record.

Today iconic frontwoman and songwriter, Isabella Manfredi releases her debut solo album izzi out through Island Records Australia/UMA. izzi is the most daring, personal and true work to date from an artist over ten years deep into a storied, artistic career. Stepping into her own, izzi represents a kind of (re)birth for Isabella, with all the love, trepidation, guts, and eventual catharsis such an evolution entails.

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel. The Pirate's Cove would have been an obvious tourist destination that could have brought much needed tax dollars and employment oppo...

The Force in Star Wars | May the 4th Be With You | Miracle Mindset

The Force in the Star Wars universe bears many striking similarities to spiritual concepts found in Christianity. Much like how Christians believe in an all-encompassing, omnipresent God, the Force is described as an energy field created by all living things that surrounds and penetrates living beings and binds the galaxy together. There is a light and dark side to the Force, mirroring the battle between good and evil, angels and demons in Christian theology. The path of the Jedi, who align with the light side of the Force, is one of self-sacrifice, discipline, and overcoming temptation - very much like the Christian walk of faith. The Jedi are guided by the Force just as Christians are led by the Holy Spirit. And in the same way that Jesus' ultimate sacrifice defeated sin and death and offers salvation to mankind, the heroic sacrifices of Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker bring hope and turn the tide against the evil Empire. The Star Wars saga is a timeless story of goo...
