Photos and Story by Ken Hulsey
I've been hanging onto these photos for a while now. Earlier this year, I made a quick visit to the historic downtown area of Texarkana, which is unique because it straddles two states: Texas and Arkansas. I spent most of my time on the Texas side, but it’s pretty cool that the city is split right down the middle, with one side in Texas and the other in Arkansas. Texarkana Texas TX Vintage State Flag Sports Design T-Shirt - $16.99 - Order Here!As a bit of a tourist, I couldn't help but take a selfie with half of me in Texas and the other half in Arkansas! There’s a famous sign in front of the courthouse that celebrates this unique city division, and people have been taking pictures there for years—now I can say I have one too!
I also enjoyed wandering around the courthouse area, where I found statues honoring those who fought in the Civil War and an absolutely beautiful church nearby. It’s a lovely little downtown that I plan to visit again. Texarkana has really captured my interest, so I hope to explore more next time. Unfortunately, I had to cut my visit short because a big thunderstorm was rolling in, but I’m looking forward to returning in the future!
