 In 1976, director Michael Anderson took creative liberties when adapting the novel Logan's Run, written by George Clayton Johnson and William F. Nolan, to produce one of the most memorable sci-fi films ever made. While the original story set the terminal age at 21, Anderson raised it to 30 and toned down some of the book's racier scenes to avoid an R rating. Despite these changes, the film has often been called the "sexiest science fiction movie ever made."

The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms (1953) The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is a 1953 science fiction film directed by Eugène Lourié and stars Paul Christian, Paula Raymond and Cecil Kellaway with visual effects by Ray Harryhausen. The film is about an atomic bomb test in the Arctic Circle that unfreezes a hibernating fictional dinosaur, a Rhedosaurus, that begins to wreak havoc in New York City. Today the fine folks at Meta reminded me of this post from 2014: Just got done watching Logan's Run (1975) ... one of my favorite movies. Just thinking back to 2003 when film maker Victor Franko wanted me to be an Executive Producer on his remake of the film. The project was being developed for either the Sci Fi Channel (SYFY Channel) or for a feature film. We wanted a remake of the film version with a mostly UK cast. Ultimately we got dropped for Bryan Singer and a US cast .... which never got made either. They really wanted to go with the original concepts from the William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson novel. Wishing that had developed into something. From SyFy Wire One would think, since the Logan’s Run movie opens with people being killed in the most fantastical way possible, it would mean nothing after those scenes could be surprising. About midway through the movie as the lead characters, Logan 5 and Jessica, get closer to freedom, they encounter a frozen cave adorned with popsicle humans. There they find a robot named Box who was uploaded with the nightmare version of the Mr. Belvedere protocol. Box looks like something put together for a science fair at the very last minute. It’s as tall as Shaquille O’Neal and has car wash vacuum cleaner inspired arms with a head that still manages to somehow look like an older Patrick Stewart. Box was programmed to capture food from the outside world to feed the city, Sanctuary, but there is a plot twist. Those human popsicles aren’t there for decoration.
