Pastor Steve Smothermon - Legacy Church - If I Had More I Would Be Happier = Bad Mindset

We tend to hate testing and spiritual exercise that will strengthen our faith and make us stronger. If you can’t surrender with whatever you have right now, even if you get more, the situation won't change.

Pastor Steven Roberts - Journey Church - Sat It, Do It, Be It

When nice thoughts come to you, say them aloud. If there is a time you wish to do something special or unique, you should. When you feel things need to be different, you be the change.

Pastor Steve Smothermon - Legacy Church - God isn’t a genie. JESUS IS SAVIOR. Hard Sayings of Jesus

God entrusted this life to us, and it’s our job to live it, not to push the responsibility back on Him. I hear this all the time, “I just want to know: I’m waiting on the will of God.” It is usually an excuse to do nothing. What’s unfortunate is those people discount the will of God that is written — the Bible. It is full of His will for us.

Pastor James W Greer - Journey Church - 5 Things God Wants You to Experience When You Stretch Your Faith

When you stretch your faith, God wants you to experience five things. Don't let the wrong things lead you astray in life. Live your life with the assurance that God is in control. Extend your faith and see what God has in store for you.

Pastor Steve Smothermon - Legacy Church - New Year New You!

As we look to make changes in our lives — things like getting out of debt, losing weight, working out, etc. — let’s not forget that bodily exercise profits little. I Timothy 4:8 — For bodily exercise profiteth little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, having a promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Bob Goff - Love Does

Think about your life and consider: Is there a person who has been there with you when the going got rough? Or a person who poured out his or her life to mentor or counsel you? Or someone who talked you out of making a bad choice or talked you into making a good one?

Pastor Steven Roberts - Journey Church - The Miracle of a Fresh Start

To thrive in your walk in Christ, know the miracle of Jesus and His work on the cross. Learn to receive the miracle of testimony. Rejoice in knowing that your wounds will bring greatness and miracles one day.

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel. The Pirate's Cove would have been an obvious tourist destination that could have brought much needed tax dollars and employment oppo...

Abandoned Louisiana - The Old Hightower Family Home in Dodson

I have to admit that I have been hanging on to these photos for a couple of months now just looking for the right minute to post them. Back in November I was traveling up to El Dorado, Arkansas and I passed through the small town of Dodson. While driving through town my eyes spotted a very attractive old house up on a hill and I just had to stop and take a few photos of it. I honestly don't know the history of this house, but I'm sure some local will send me message telling me all about it (and someone did see the UPDATE ), and it's not as cool as an abandoned railroad locomotive or old movie house but it really spoke to me. I have to wonder about the people who used to live in it and how it ended up in the state it is now. Anyone can see that it was a beautiful house long ago. What happened? How did such a grand residence end up like this? Those are questions that I can't answer unfortunately.  Unfortunately a site like this isn't all that uncommon here in Louisian...
