This morning I was going through some old photographs of a trip that Terri and I took to Big Bear Lake. On that day we enjoyed a picknick lunch next to the water and spent some time hiking around the area.
As you well know, I rarely go on any kind of excursion without my trusty camera on my side and on that day I took several dozen images. One of my favorites has always been the one featured above. The image features tree lined trail that somewhat resembles a tunnel with light at the end. I always thought that the scene was very spiritual, so I decided to go in search of a Bible verse that matched the essence of what I photographed that day.
This is what the Lord lead me to:
Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
—Psalm 25:4-5
Wow, that couldn't be any more apropos.
Interestingly enough, I pray for the Lord to put me on the right path in life. A path that will lead to a better relationship with Jesus, a path to the purposeful life that he has waiting for me.
Looking back at my life, I can't help but wonder how much better things would have been if I had chosen to follow God's path instead of my own. I sure did make a real mess out of a lot of things, went right when I should have gone left, stayed when I should have moved on and the like. I'm certain that if you take a good hard look at your path, you will have the same regrets.
The time now, however, is not to focus too much on that well-traveled path behind me and look toward the path to prosperity that God has promised. For indeed there is light ahead if we choose to follow the teachings of our savior and align our paths with his.
Take some time this week to get out of the house and enjoy the Spring weather. Find someplace to be alone with God and seek his wisdom for your life.
Just some thoughts for today.
