 Story by Ken Hulsey When I lived in Albuquerque, one of my favorite places was the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science. I have to admit that back in the 80s, the museum wasn't much to write home about - it had a couple of dinosaur skeletons and little else. However, it was still really interesting, and I always enjoyed exploring the exhibits, with my favorite being the giant leg bones of a Seismosaurus, the largest dinosaur ever discovered, which used to call New Mexico home.

The area was ideal for summer motorcycle rides, hiking adventures, and camping trips. The region is dotted with captivating geological wonders like the Soda Dam (and its picturesque waterfall), the Sulphur Hot Springs, and the towering Battleship Rock.  This one actually comes as a recommendation of my wife Terri who ate there with her sister and our daughter a couple of years back. From  Michael's Kitchen Taos   Considered one of the best restaurants in town, Michael’s Kitchen has been in business since 1974, and some original staff members remain. Owner Derek Apodaca says, “My wife Gina and I bought the restaurant in 2005. We once had a customer say that he had been here in the 70’s and was amazed that nothing had changed. The exhibit will be located on floor 3B, according to museum spokeswoman Cathy Harper.  It looks like the state of New Mexico has a new unofficial mascot (move over Marty The Moose) in Asha The Mexican Grey Wolf who was captured near Toas in January and returned to her natural habitat in Arizona only to have her return to The Land of Enchantment. It seems that Asha loves the wilderness of Northern New Mexico and intends to make it her new home even though it may not be exactly in her best interest because it wouldn't be a great place to find a husband plus there are concerns that she may become a fatality by crossing the numerous highways and she could be shot by someone who mistakes her for a coyote.  It makes you wonder why both Asha and Marty have migrated out of their natural habitats to take up home in Northern New Mexico? From Trains Magazine Santa Fe No. 2926 will be under steam to attend New Mexico Railroad Days at Albuquerque’s downtown Rail Yards – a former ATSF facility with sections redeveloped for venue purposes, and future home for the restored 4-8-4 . Organized by the locomotive’s owner, the New Mexico Steam Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society (DBA New Mexico Heritage Rail), the free event is scheduled on Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “These events help draw people to areas they may not have been to before and to gain new experiences,” said John Roberts, president of the non-profit organization. “We plan events like this to bring public awareness to our project and our goals, educate the visitors about the history of locomotives, stimulate interest in railroad history, and encourage becoming a volunteer member to help support the current and future needs of the organization.” According to the press release, the 4-8-4 will depart on Sept. 30 at 8 a.m...
