Welcome to this week's edition of Hot Traxx Rewind. Tonight we have a song from a band from Australia, which if you have been paying any attention to these posts over the last couple of weeks shouldn't surprise you at all. In actuality I have been featuring bands from the land down under quite prominently lately.
I will repeat what I posted last week when I featured The Temper Trap's song Fader:
I honestly feel that the quality of material coming from that region of the globe is absolutely strong and innovative. Though many of these acts have not caught on here in America (yet) I believe that it is only a matter of time before we have another Aussie Invasion similar to the early 80s when bands like INXS, Midnight Oil, Men at Work and Icehouse all scored hits on the US top 40.I should also point out that this isn't the first time that I have posted about The Preatures either. I have to say that they are one of my favorite bands and I been playing their two albums over and over on Spotify.
Tonight we are going to rewind back to 2014 for the track Somebody's Talking from The Preatures debut album Blue Planet Eyes:
For your second video we have another track from Blue Planet Eyes called Is This How You Feel:
The Preatures are an Australian band from Sydney. The band was formed in 2010 and features Isabella 'Izzi' Manfredi on vocals/keyboards, Jack Moffitt (guitar), Thomas Champion (bass) and Luke Davison (drums). Gideon Bensen was a member of the band until 2016. In 2013, the band won the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition with their song "Is This How You Feel?"
Self described as rock pop soul, the band has morphed in sound throughout the years with the loss of the deep voice of Gideon Bensen who went on to do a solo project. On the other hand, their sound has transformed into catchy rhythms as well a slow ballads on their newest album Girlhood. Manfredi grew up listening to Yothu Yindi and Warumpi Band, famous indigenous bands. These sounds permeate throughout the popular and upbeat sounds.
