The modern age of UFO's is born when a pilot named Kenneth Arnold spotted a formation of strange aircraft over Mount Rainier, Washington while searching for a downed U.S. Marine Corps C-46 transport airplane. In an official report that was published around the globe Arnold described the craft as being 'saucer shaped' and hence forth the term 'flying saucer' became a staple of modern pop culture. The fact that Arnold was an experienced flyer and WWII combat pilot added credibility to the sighting.
January 7, 1948 Godman Air Force Base, Kentucky
After the tower crew at Godman Air Force Base in western Kentucky had spotted an unidentified aircraft between 250 and 300 feet in diameter souring above them at a fantastic speed a squadron of Air National Guard P-51 Mustangs under the command of Captain Thomas Mantell were called upon to give chase and identify.
Whether spooked or running low on fuel themselves, two of the fighters broke off the chase leaving Mantell as the lone pursuer of the object. At 3:15 pm the Air Force Captain radioed back to Godman that he was going to try and move in closer to the UFO to get a better look at it.
Several hours later the wreckage of the P-51, along with Mantell's remains, were discovered in the woods close to Fort Knox. Though no one knows for sure just what exactly happened to the Air Force Captain and his plane many have speculated that it was either forced to crash or even possibly was shot down by the UFO. The Air Force officially reported that Mantell had 'blacked-out' at 20,000 feet due to lack of oxygen and crashed and that the UFO in question was nothing more than the planet Venus.
April 24, 1949 White Sands Proving Grounds, New Mexico
Commander Robert B. McLaughlin and his crew were just about to launch a balloon as part of the Navy's Project Skyhook when a elliptical, flat, white UFO 105 feet in diameter appeared on their tracking equipment. According to an article McLaughlin later wrote for 'True' magazine (Flying Saucers Are Real) the object was at an altitude of 56 miles and was traveling at 18,000 miles per hour. It should be noted that balloons from Project Skyhook were often times listed in government reports as the source of many alleged UFO sightings.
1957 Brazil
Brazilian student Antonio Villa Boas was reportedly dragged into an egg-shaped UFO by four strange looking 'people' while he had been plowing his father's field. Once he was inside he was confronted by what he says was a small, sexy, naked blond woman with whom he reportedly had sexual relations. After the encounter Villa Boas was given a tour of the craft then returned to the field with all of his memories in tact.
In the weeks after the incident Villa Boas began to exhibit the signs of radiation poisoning and developed strange wounds all over his body which left the local medical community baffled. Due to the young man's reputation for honesty local officials had no choice but to believe his story no matter how incredible it was.

January 5, 2009 Conisholme, UK
During the period between late 2008 and early 2009 the media was overwhelmed by reports of strange lights over the British isles. All of the reports were pretty benign until the morning of January 5, 2009 when one of these lights reportedly crashed into a 66ft tall wind turbine in Conisholme (UK). What the eyewitnesses reported seeing that morning was nothing short of incredible.
John Harrison, a local resident, describes what he saw that night, “It was huge. At first I thought it must have been a hole where the moon was shining through but then I saw the tentacles – it looked just like an octopus It was an incredible site; I have never seen anything like it before. I have no idea what it was, all I can say is what I saw”.
Whether it was a space ship or some sort of monster the wind turbine was severely damaged by something and one of it's blades was sheared off and never recovered.
