 This past week I discovered an interesting little tidbit in Facebook feed from a paranormal group about Native American encounters with giant hominoids in ancient times. Included in the article was the above illustration that sparked my interest simply because it looked like the cover of an old Turok Son of Stone comic book. Nostalgia aside, the accompanying story jarred my memory of something I had read years ago about the discovery of a giant skeleton in Lompoc, California sometime in the 1800s. This again sparked my curiosity and I was able to find the story with a quick online search. In 1833, a group of Mexican soldiers stationed in Lompoc, were digging a powder-magazine pit on the old Lompoc Rancho one morning when they unearthed a human skeleton. This skeleton, found beneath a layer of cemented gravel, was 12 feet tall. The giant had double rows of teeth on its upper and lower jaws and was surrounded by burial offerings such as carved shells, huge stone axes, and porphyry...

 It's a cold and wet winter evening so it's time to spin a tale about a monster that reportedly claimed several victims over a matter of years on a remote Russian lake. Everyone is familiar with the legend of 'Nessie' the Scottish lake monster who has has been spotted in and around Loch Ness. For centuries people have caught glimpses of something strange swimming in the lake's murky water. The Loch Ness Monster occasionally pops up from time to time for a photo op or to appear in someone's vacation video. Good old 'Nessie' may be a tease but she is generally regarded as a very benign monster. Several commercial airline passengers were terrified by an egg-shaped UFO that buzzed their flight over South America. While the flight was over Rio de Janiero, Brazil, a strange brightly-lit craft appeared from out of a cloud-bank just off the planes right wing tip. According to eyewitnesses several passengers screamed when the object flew directly at the aircraft believing it was going to crash into plane. The object did not impact the plane but preceded to fly alongside monitoring it for about 2 minutes. Periodically the craft would vanish in the clouds only to reappear again on the other side.   Brookhill Ferry Shipwreck Site in Baton Rouge, Louisiana The lack of rain in the South and Midwest over the past several months have resulted in the depths of Mississippi River reaching record low levels. Due to these unusually low water levels so really interesting things are being discovered in areas that are generally under water. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana the shipwreck of an over one hundred year old ferry has recently been discovered. The now exposed wreckage is believed to be of the Brookhill Ferry that used to transport people and horse-drawn carriages across the Mississippi River in the late 1800s and early 1900s before any bridge in the area ever existed. According to newspaper records the ship went down in a severe storm way back in June of 1906.
