The Return of the Los Angeles Rams 'Super Bowl' Jersey

No matter how you felt about last years Rams uniform reveal, this time around fans and former players agree that they got it right.

OMG DID THEY GET IT RIGHT!

These new clean white jerseys are, as the Rams labeled them, Modern Throwbacks that a natural evolution of the same uniforms worn by the team from 1973 to 1999. As you may remember the last time the team wore these uniforms was Super Bowl XXXIV when they defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-16.

Many Rams legends such as Eric Dickerson, Jack Youngblood, Jim Everett, Isaac Bruce, Henry Ellard and Vince Ferragamo all wore this uniform during their careers. In fact the jersey is often referred to as 'The Ferragamo's" by fans.

Here is the reveal video produced by the Rams starring tailback Cam Akers and Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson:

The Rams actually listened to the fans and former players alike when they chose this design. Here they reveal the new uniforms to a group of Rams legends:

If for some reason you don't understand the importance of these jerseys, maybe this will jar your memory:

Here is the press release from the Los Angeles Rams:

As the Los Angeles Rams prepare to welcome fans to SoFi Stadium for the first time this fall, the team is unveiling a jersey inspired by one of the classic Rams uniforms beloved by generations of fans.

The Modern Throwback jersey celebrates the uniform worn by some of the franchise's greatest players during some of its most memorable moments in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, including winning Super Bowl XXXIV.

The new look will pay homage to the uniform worn by Hall of Famers JACK YOUNGBLOOD and JACKIE SLATER when they led the Rams to a Super Bowl appearance at the Rose Bowl in 1980, by Hall of Fame RB ERIC DICKERSON during his historic 1984 season, and by the record-setting offense known as the "Greatest Show on Turf" in 1999.

The Rams will wear this jersey for three regular-season games during the 2021 season: the opener against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, September 12; Week 9 in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIV against the Tennessee Titans; and Week 10 at the San Francisco 49ers.

From design creation to colors and production, the Rams collaborated with Nike Global Identity Group and the National Football League. The Modern Throwback pays homage to older design elements including the white jersey with blue numbers and blue ram horns on the yellow capped sleeves, with newer features such as a ram head logo on the back-neck tag and a front jersey patch displaying the Rams wordmark.

Rams COO Kevin Demoff  was interviewed by Jourdan Rodrigue and Rich Hammond of the 11 Personnel Podcast about the development of the new uniforms:

Finally ... well ... I'm just posting this just because I love watching Eric Dickerson run:

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel. The Pirate's Cove would have been an obvious tourist destination that could have brought much needed tax dollars and employment oppo...

Abandoned Louisiana - The Old Hightower Family Home in Dodson

I have to admit that I have been hanging on to these photos for a couple of months now just looking for the right minute to post them. Back in November I was traveling up to El Dorado, Arkansas and I passed through the small town of Dodson. While driving through town my eyes spotted a very attractive old house up on a hill and I just had to stop and take a few photos of it. I honestly don't know the history of this house, but I'm sure some local will send me message telling me all about it (and someone did see the UPDATE ), and it's not as cool as an abandoned railroad locomotive or old movie house but it really spoke to me. I have to wonder about the people who used to live in it and how it ended up in the state it is now. Anyone can see that it was a beautiful house long ago. What happened? How did such a grand residence end up like this? Those are questions that I can't answer unfortunately.  Unfortunately a site like this isn't all that uncommon here in Louisian...
