Visit Albuquerque - The Nob Hill Neighborhood

From Visit Albuquerque on Facebook

The Nob Hill neighborhood is often lauded as the quirkiest neighborhood in the city. Nob Hill Main Street, located along Central Avenue between Washington and Gibson, is chock-full of funky shops, restaurants and bars. Being so close to the University of New Mexico, Nob Hill and the university area bleed together, making the neighborhood all the more vibrant and youthful.

This neighborhood was Albuquerque's first suburb. With construction of WPA projects like the State Fairgrounds and the Monte Vista Fire Station - now the Monte Vista Fire Station Restaurant & Bar - the area developed in the early 1940's and into the 50's and beyond. More and more people moved to enjoy a peaceful suburb with modern amenities like a movie theater, pharmacies and shops while still having easy access to Downtown via Route 66.

One of the best things about Nob Hill is the eclectic foodie scene. One can find everything from an elegant dinners to roadside diners - like the 66 Diner pictured here. There's just about any type of cuisine you can imagine, all within a 2-mile radius. The neighborhood is full of local fare, flavor and flair and is definitely worth a visit next time you're in ABQ.
