Connect with God: Deepen Faith | Spiritual Growth Diary

Image
Grow closer to Jesus by reading His words in the Bible. Let Scripture nourish your spirit each day. Connecting with God the Father, as in Christian beliefs, is special and can be done in different ways. One important way is through prayer. Prayer is like talking to God. Jesus taught a special prayer in the Bible, called the Lord's Prayer (found in Matthew 6:9-13), which shows us how to pray by asking for God's help and thanking Him for all He does. Reading the Bible is another great way to feel close to God. The Bible tells us about who God is and what He wants for us. It's like a map that guides us in life. There's a verse, John 1:1, which says the Bible is a way to understand God better. Finally, Jesus said that loving and helping others is very important. In John 13:34-35, He tells us to love others just as He loves us. When we are kind and help people, it's like we are showing God's love to them. This makes our connection with God stronger because we are d...

Pastor Steven Roberts - Journey Church - Getting Rid Of The Junk That Gets In The Way Of Our Relationship With God

Image
Psalm 51:1–3 (ESV) 1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Matthew 12:43–45 (ESV):  43 “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none.  44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.  45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.” Journey Church 2900 Donahue Ferry Rd, Pineville, LA 71360 Phone  (318) 640-1273 Website  https://jcpineville.com/ Check Out: Photo of the Day - A Stressless Life in Central Louisiana Pastor Steven Roberts - ...

Photo of the Day - A Stressless Life in Central Louisiana

Image
A relationship with Jesus can transform your life from stressed to blessed. These couple of shots were taken well over a month ago as I was leaving for work. A light rain was just beginning to fall on this farm just south of Lecompte and I thought that the clouds with their hues of purple were just to beautiful to pass up. Our family just moved out of Lecompte and I'm going to miss the serenity of living in a small farming town.  Looking at this scene this morning inspired me to reflect a bit on last weeks sermon by our pastor James W. Greer entitles 'The Stressless Life'. Sometimes we just spend way too much time worrying about the events of our lives. As Christians we have the ability to put all of that stuff in hands of Jesus knowing that He will give us peace.  Stress is a fearful concern felt when life's demands appear to be greater than your ability to meet them. Genuine concern is expressed through faith in God. Fearful concern is expressed through self-dependen...

Pastor James Greer - Journey Church - When You Receive the Favor of God

Image
To see the vision of God's favor, healing needs to take place. Know that the purpose God has for you is bigger than you can imagine. Change your perspective to one of redemption no one in darkness. God will work things out in your favor. When You Receive the Favor of God What is the favor of God?( Psalm 90:16-17,NRSV ; TEV) When God takes the ordinary and does the extraordinary. A father shows favor to his children by showing them grace, guidance, protection, and provision. Mary received the favor of God when she believed in God. She activated the favor of God when she obeyed. Activate the favor of God.( Luke 1:37-38,NKJV ) When you have the favor of God and activate it nothing will be impossible for you because God is with you. When you commit to living according to God’s word, you begin your journey to the favor of God. When do you get the favor of God? The favor of God is a lot like the grace of God.( Ephesians 2:8-10 ,AMP) At salvation, He gets your sins and shortcomings and y...
