Complete Domination! 28 Point Second Quarter Catapults Rams Over Giants 38 - 11

I seem to see a trend developing with this Los Angeles Rams team. Every game starts off the same way. Matthew Stafford and the offense are out of sink and seem like they have never played together, the defense seems soft and the opposing offense moves the ball with ease play after play.

I'm almost convinced that this somehow intentional.

Then, almost like magic, Stafford wakes up and the offense becomes almost unstoppable. The defense, likewise, starts shutting things down.

This has been going on for six weeks now, and today was no different. First quarter ... nothin', then blammo the second the second quarter begins the Rams start moving the ball at will and before you know it the scoreboard reads 28 - 3.

The third quarter begins and next thing you know it's 38 -3. The Rams defense is catching more passes than the Giant receivers and start using passer Daniel Jones as a tackling dummy.

Overall this was the best performance on both sides off the ball that the Rams have had all season.

Rams head coach Sean McVay was frustrated with his offense during that 28 point second quarter and threw his headset to the turf after a Stafford interception. He told the Fox sideline reporter that the offense wasn't playing up to snuff and that defense was bailing them out.

Apparently if you don't roll up a hundred points on the Giants in one quarter your slacking off.

I love what the Fox analyst commented after hearing about McVay's displeasure (I'm paraphrasing) "If they can score 28 points playing terrible, I would hate to see what they could do if they played well."

It was something like that.

A complementary effort in all three phases paved the way for a 38-11 Rams victory over the New York Giants (1-5) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The win also helped L.A. (5-1) stay a perfect 3-0 on the road this season.

Three of the four takeaways created by the Rams defense – a sack-fumble by outside linebacker Ogbo Okoronkwo and an interception by safety Taylor Rapp – directly led to 21 of their 38 points. The Rams scored 28 of their 38 points and secured three of their four takeaways by halftime.

Rapp finished with two interceptions overall, snagging another late in the third quarter that led to a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford to wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Rookie Robert Rochell also notched the first interception of his NFL career.

Kupp caught his 30th and 31st career touchdowns, surpassing Rams legend Isaac Bruce's 29 for most such scores through a player's first 60 games in franchise history. Kupp finished with a team-high nine receptions for 130 yards overall in addition to the pair of touchdowns.

Running back Darrell Henderson Jr. tallied 107 yards from scrimmage and two total touchdowns in the win, while quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 22 of 28 passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns with one interception.

Additionally, all four of punter Johnny Hekker's punts landed inside the 20, while Matt Gay made his lone field goal attempt and all five of his extra point attempts.

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel. The Pirate's Cove would have been an obvious tourist destination that could have brought much needed tax dollars and employment oppo...

Abandoned Louisiana - The Old Hightower Family Home in Dodson

I have to admit that I have been hanging on to these photos for a couple of months now just looking for the right minute to post them. Back in November I was traveling up to El Dorado, Arkansas and I passed through the small town of Dodson. While driving through town my eyes spotted a very attractive old house up on a hill and I just had to stop and take a few photos of it. I honestly don't know the history of this house, but I'm sure some local will send me message telling me all about it (and someone did see the UPDATE ), and it's not as cool as an abandoned railroad locomotive or old movie house but it really spoke to me. I have to wonder about the people who used to live in it and how it ended up in the state it is now. Anyone can see that it was a beautiful house long ago. What happened? How did such a grand residence end up like this? Those are questions that I can't answer unfortunately.  Unfortunately a site like this isn't all that uncommon here in Louisian...
