This past Saturday the wife and I took a short road trip to one of our favorite little spots here in Louisiana. There is an old store, that used to be a really cool antique store (it relocated to Bunkie), on the old Baton Rouge highway just outside Inglewood Farms. The area is quiet and very beautiful.
Even though the antique store is gone it is still a neat little area to walk around and soak in the natural beauty of the Central Louisiana farms. As you probably already know the wife and I really love old buildings and the old brick store with it's old wagon scale is something we enjoy visiting from time to time. The area is just chalk full of history from the nearby Inglewood Plantation to the site of the old Confederate Governor's home just down the road. Walking around you can just feel the history of the area.
Inglewood Plantation (Farm) was first established in 1836 and has been owned by the Keller family since the 1940’s, when Christoph and Polly Keller settled on the farm after World War II. Today it is an organic farm that sells produce at local farmers markets.
If you are looking for a place to just escape it all and relax for a bit this location would be just what you need.
