The 100 Greatest Monsters From Movies And Television #31 - #40

40. THE FLY The Fly is a 1958 American science-fiction horror film, directed by Kurt Neumann. The screenplay was written by James Clavell (his first), from the short story "The Fly" by George Langelaan. It was followed by two sequels, Return of the Fly and Curse of the Fly. Canadian scientist Andre Delambre's head and arm are crushed in a hydraulic press. His wife Helene confesses to the crime. Helene is obsessed with flies, particularly a white-headed fly. Andre's brother, Francois, lies and says he caught it. Thinking he knows the truth, Helene tells how it happened. In flashback, Andre, Helene and their son Phillipe are a happy family. Andre has been working on a matter transporter device -- the disintegrator-integrator. It works, but not quite perfectly. He refines it, and eventually builds a man-sized pair of chambers. Helene, worried since Andre has not come up from the basement lab for a couple days, goes down to investigate. Andre lets her in, but has a b...

Music For A Halloween Saturday: Ted Cassidy - The Lurch

"You Rang?" Hey there hipsters it's Halloween again and you know what that means! It's time to get down and party like it's 1965!  I have dug up an incredibly strange clip from 1965 for you starring everyone's favorite butler turned dancing queen, Lurch from The Addams Family. Apparently somebody over in the publicity department at ABC (The network that aired The Addams Family television program) decided that the show needed to reach out to a more groovy crowd so on Halloween night in 1965 actor Ted Cassidy was marched out onto the floor of the ultra-mod music program "Shindig!" to perform a new dance called "The Lurch". What would follow could be described as surreal and just plain strange. Give this a look:  The Lurch (So you can sing along at home) Lurch: (Gong) You Rang? Singers: Hi, Lurch! Lurch: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Singers: Hey, Lurch, we just heard the news around town Lurch: Newwwwwwwws? Singers: And we’re here to see what you’re put...

The 100 Greatest Monsters From Movies And Television #41 - #50

50. SLEESTAKS Land of the Lost was a 1974–1976 TV series relating the adventures of the Marshall family (including Will and Holly and their father, later replaced by their uncle). The Marshalls become trapped in a pocket universe populated by dinosaurs, ape-like creatures called Pakuni, and anthropomorphic reptilian creatures named Sleestak. This article concerns these characters, along with other human and alien visitors to the Land of the Lost. Sleestaks are devolved, green humanoids with both reptilian and insectoid features; they have scaly skin with frills around the neck, bulbous unblinking eyes, pincer-like hands, stubby tails, and a single blunt horn on top of the head, and bear a resemblance to the hypothetical "Dinosauroid". Sleestaks often communicate with a hissing sound that rarely changes in characteristics. However, like their Altrusian ancestors, they possess some rudimentary form of telepathy as well. Sleestaks are more sophisticated than Pakuni and are ab...
