Paul's Early Ministry: Raising An Army

A former US Army Air Corps B-25 Mitchel bomber at March Air Force Base, CA - By Ken Hulsey  Today Pastor James W Greer preached a wonderful sermon on Raising An Army at Journey Church. This new series is primarily about getting our members to embrace the mission of taking the word of God outside the walls of the church and convey it to others. Interestingly enough this message goes hand and with what my wife and I have been reading in the Bible over the past couple of months. Our study of the book of Acts has been both informative and very entertaining.  Now I don't know if anyone has ever referred to the Bible as an entertaining book before but to read through Acts one chapter at a time like we did you find yourself wanting to know more and eagerly anticipating what the next chapter will reveal. It's like the old movie serials that ended with what is known as a cliff-hanger, basically ending the story just when it was starting to get interesting, a technique used to make you ...

Today In History: Orson Welles Scares The Crap Out Of America With Famous "War of the Worlds" Radio Broadcat

In my opinion this was one of the most interesting events in human history. It's hard for us today to understand how a radio broadcast of the H.G. Wells classic science fiction novel War of the Worlds by Orson Welles and his Mercury Theater players could cause a nation-wide panic by people believing that Earth was really being invaded by Martians. But it really happened. In the late 1930s everyone got their breaking news from the radio and Welles's adaption of Wells's story of an alien invasion (which sounded like an actual news broadcast) coupled with the fear of the war in Europe spreading onto American shores was all that was needed to push otherwise rational people into a panic. From History.com Welles was only 23 years old when his Mercury Theater company decided to update H.G. Wells’s 19th-century science fiction novel The War of the Worlds for national radio. Despite his age, Welles had been in radio for several years, most notably as the voice of “The Shadow” in th...

Toons Of Terror!!!: Bugs Bunny in Hair-Raising Hare (1946)

Today we are in for a real treat in the universally beloved spooky animated short Hair-Raising Here from 1946 starring Bugs Bunny. This is one of my personal favorites and I have been waiting patiently until Halloween weekend to feature it. I don't know that much of an introduction is needed honestly? Just about everyone should be familiar with the plot, but just incase someone isn't I'll explain it briefly. Our hero, the one and only Bugs Bunny, is lured to the castle of a mad scientist (who resembles actor Peter Lorre) by a sexy female rabbit robot to be a meal for a mysterious monster. True to form, Bugs is too much for the scientist to subdue so he releases the monster in hope that he can procure his own dinner. The monster, a giant fuzzy orange creature named Gossamer who is something between Bigfoot, Elmo and a decorative pillow, is also no match for the rabbit who sends him packing by pointing out that there is a theater full of people watching them.  In this case th...

Woke is the roar of smug, entitled mediocrities everywhere

I would comment more on this but I think it speaks for itself. The insanity of a world where Thomas The Tank Engine, craft beers and even country walks are branded racist drives JULIE BURCHILL to despair By JULIE BURCHILL FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY You'd think that with all the lunacy that’s happened in the past year, writing a book about Woke Britain would be the easiest thing in the world. I thought so too, until I tried it. So why has it been so difficult? It’s because by the spring, not even each day, but each hour brought some new snippet of Woke insanity. Every morning I would find that half a dozen acts of idiocy had taken place while I’d slept. I’d go to bed reeling from the claim that country walks were racist and wake up to the glad tidings that cyclists wanted to be included in the ever-lengthening queue of those who may be eligible for hate crime status. As the insanity picked up velocity, one cultural artefact after another went up in flames, lest it offend somebody. Fir...

Mark Ronchetti Enters The Race To Be New Mexico's Next Governor

New Mexico needs a change in leadership. The first priority needs to be in education. I was in the APS system back in the late 70s and early 80s. The schools were awful. Here we are forty years later and nothing has improved. Secondly the rise in crime needs to be addressed. More resources for the men in blue. The state also needs policy to attract new business. We need to provide paths to good careers so the youth of the state will stay and call New Mexico home instead of leaving for opportunities elsewhere. New Mexico has so many things going for it like perfect climate and natural beauty. It's time to strive for excellence instead of the same old failures. - Ken Hulsey    I’m running to be your Governor and my focus will be simple: A governor who will fight to empower and encourage small businesses. A governor who will fight for parents and kids to ensure they get the education they deserve. A governor who will take our rapidly growing crime rate seriously and will ...

The Hot Traxx Top 10 Hits (10/28/21)

Here are the top ten hottest songs from my Spotify playlists!  1. Worst Nights - Foster The People 2. On The Moon - Anteros 3. Cure For Me - AURORA    Speaking to NME about the track, the Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA described it as “a very fun little guy” – despite it coming from a much darker place. “Why is it so difficult for people to just let others be themselves? Then I thought that it could mean many other things. People tend to believe quite quickly that something is wrong with them if they’re not like the people they see in front of them. It’s so sad that it doesn’t take much for us to really doubt ourselves.” 4. Golden - Bret 5. Tonight United - Duran Duran 6. Sakura - Macross 82 - 99 7. Jealousy - Isabella Manfredi 8. Silver Balloons - Little Boots 9. Holiday - She & Him 10. Party Again - Tops Check out these tracks and more on my Spotify playlist: Check Out: New Music Friday: Chvrches - California After The Breakup Of The Preatures Isabella Manfred...

The First Trailer For Cowboy Bebop Has Landed!

The first official trailer for the Netflix live-action adaptation of the hugely popular Japanese anime Cowboy Bebop just dropped and in my opinion it kicks serious Space Cowboy! From Netflix: COWBOY BEBOP is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them. Based on the beloved anime series, COWBOY BEBOP is executive produced by André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Makoto Asanuma, Shin Sasaki and Masayuki Ozaki of Sunrise Inc., Tim Coddington, Tetsu Fujimura, Michael Katleman, Mat...

Halloween Movie Trailers: CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954)

Source: Monster Island News on Youtube    An archeological expedition to the Amazon discovers the fossilized remains of the arm and clawed hand of a “missing link” between man and fish. The item is returned to civilization and a research team consisting of marine biologist Dr. David Reed (Richard Carlson), his employer Mark Williams (Richard Denning), his assistant Kay (Julia Adams), and the man responsible for the find, Dr. Carlos Maia, are quickly assembled to return to the Amazon to search for the rest of the remains.  Upon returning to the site the group discovers that the campsite has been ransacked and the members of first expedition have been slaughtered. Despite this grizzly discovery the group continues on with the dig to no avail. It is soon discovered that the rest of the remains must have been washed down stream into an area that is known to the local natives as “The Black Lagoon.”   Upon arrival at the mysterious lagoon the young assista...
