It's a monster rematch 50 years in the making!
The special effects team over at Toho studios in Japan have put together a short film under the direction of Kazuhiro Nakagawa to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971). Since the original Godzilla and Hedorah costumes were long gone the team made use of suits left over from the 2004 movie Godzilla Final Wars.
In the original film directed by Yoshimitsu Banno and produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka Japan's most famous titan of terror Godzilla plays the role of hero by duking it out with a monster spawned from trash and environmental pollution.
With a strong environmentally-focused message, Godzilla vs. Hedorah features the Smog Monster Hedorah, who feeds on the pollution produced by mankind. As Hedorah continues to feed and evolve, Godzilla rises to confront the creature before it can threaten him as well as all of humanity. However, Hedorah is bolstered by mankind's pollution and continues to achieve larger and more powerful forms to the point it dwarfs even Godzilla and causes horrific devastation to all of Japan. Marine biologist Toru Yano and his son Ken work to find a method to defeat Hedorah as Godzilla's war against the Smog Monster culminates in a decisive final battle atop Mount Fuji. - Wiki

I wonder if they'll release the AIP cut of Godzilla vs The Smog Monster, or if we're gonna remain stuck with the inferior "International English" cut of Godzilla vs. Hedora.
