Louisiana Through My Lens - A Walk Through Shreveport Riverview Park

I just discovered another of Louisiana's most amazing places. Located on the bank of the Red River in downtown Shreveport is the amazing Riverview Park. This place has it all from an amazing walking trail that hugs the river lined with beautiful tress to a waterfall that has to be seen.  Honestly this is a place that everyone here in Louisiana needs to visit. I'm starting to put together a list of my favorite places here in the Pelican State and right now this location is going to rank in the top five easily.  Map: My Photos: Check Out: Louisiana Through My Lens - Impressions Of Downtown Shreveport Louisiana Through My Lens - Abandoned Road Bridge near Colfax Louisiana Through My Lens - The Louisiana Southern Railroad sets out cars at Arclin Chemical in Winn Parish Photo of the Day - Illinois Central 0-6-0 Locomotive 333 Louisiana Through My Lens - A Beautiful Fall Morning In The Kisatchie National Forest Louisiana Through My Lens - Election Day at Capitol City Park in Baton R...

The Real X-Files - UFO Startles Crowd At Australian Rodeo (July 16, 2010)(Katherine, Australia)

Spectators at a local rodeo in Katherine, Australia were taken completely by surprise when a bright shining object slowly flew over their heads, then suddenly without warning, disappeared without a trace. The aerial phenomena was witnessed by numerous bystanders at around 6:20pm both in and around the Katherine showgrounds. "At first, I thought it was a plane that had caught my eye in the sky,'' exclaimed Mel Auty, a 35-year-old resident of Camira, Queensland. "But it was more like a falling star, just not falling. It was slowly making its way across the sky. "And it wasn't dark enough for stars to be out. "It was going across the sky for maybe five seconds, before it suddenly disappeared." "There was this bright thing and then it was gone," adds 8-year-old Rikkasha Barcley. "It was really strange. I don't know what it was. It was there, then it was gone." 32-year old Vicki Mulholland was watching the rodeo, when the bright o...

Louisiana Through My Lens - Abandoned Road Bridge near Colfax

A couple of weeks back I was traveling north on U.S. Highway 71 between Colfax and Aloha when I just happened to glance to my left as the road crossed over the bayou. In the distance through the trees I could just make out the form of an old moss covered bridge. Being both a curious cat and a habitual camera bug I pulled off the highway to investigate. Indeed the was an old bridge back there and now my interest was peaked to the point that I began searching for a path through the dense woods to reach it. I found a spot where the old road once intersected the highway and decided to attempt to walk in it's path to get some photos. This road must have been abandoned decades ago because there was no sign of a road anymore. The woods had retaken everything. Following the principle that the shortest distance between to points in a straight line I managed to navigate my way to where the old bridge crosses the boggy water.  If I hadn't paid attention I may have wandered onto the bridg...

California Through My Lens - Pirate's Cove at Corona Del Mar State Beach

Photos By - Ken Hulsey Corona del Mar State Beach is a great family beach and a popular place for swimmers. Also known as Big Corona Beach, Corona del Mar State Beach is a half-mile long sandy beach framed by cliffs and a rock jetty that forms the east entrance to Newport Harbor. The beach is also popular with surfers, divers, volleyball players and sunbathers. Corona del Mar offers beautiful sandy beaches and coves that look like they came right off of a movie set. You actually may have seen these beaches in movie and television productions such as Gilligan’s Island and current made for TV productions from Disney. On the hills above the beaches stand houses and windy roads and a lookout point to enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and bay. The sunsets here are incredible, so bring a picnic and enjoy! Corona del Mar State Beach held the first major surf competition in Mainland America: the Pacific Coast Surf Riding Championships in 1928. Organized by Tom Blake through the Sur...
