The New Mexico Steam Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society has announced that Locomotive 2926 will be returning to Tractor Brewing on May 4th to celebrate the one year anniversary of its historical first run. The group is promising an afternoon where attendees will learn about the locomotive and its restoration, take a tour of the locomotive cab, purchase new merchandise and enjoy some great beer.
Santa Fe 4-8-4 Locomotive #2926 was built in May 1944 and served the railroad all over the American Southwest until it was retired in 1956 when it was donated to the city of Albuquerque (New Mexico) and placed in Coronado Park as a static display. There the locomotive sat deteriorating until 1999 when the New Mexico Steam Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society purchased it from the city for the price of one dollar and began a two decade restoration project. In July 2021 the countless hours of work by dedicated volunteers finally paid off when Locomotive 2926 moved under its own power for the first time.
Tractor Brewing is located at 1800 4th St NW Albuquerque, NM 87102
