This June, Dynamite Entertainment is presenting a new, moodier take on the iconic She-Devil With a Sword in the upcoming Red Sonja: Noir special. Fans can look forward to this exciting release from fan-favorite pulp master David Avallone and artist Edu Menna.
Over the years, the ultimate femme fatale Red Sonja has starred in a wide variety of stories - from her classic sword and sorcery adventures to genre-bending twists and unexpected crossovers. This summer, readers can enjoy the thrilling results when Hyrkanian steel meets hard-boiled pulp action.
In this deluxe 28-page release with cardstock covers, the crimson-haired heroine of song and legend finds herself embroiled in trouble once more. After a mercenary partner is murdered in cold blood, Sonja sets out on a feverish quest for revenge, hunting a priceless artifact known as the Crimson Calypso. Along the way, she'll have to slice through webs of deception and violence, waging a war of both weapons and wits against a pitiless foe.
Accomplished writer David Avallone returns with his biggest Red Sonja tale yet. This follows his debut with the character in Red Sonja: Black, White, Red #6, as well as his recent contributions to Savage Tales specials and Bettie Page Unbound. Over the years, Avallone has become a fan favorite at Dynamite with his acclaimed work on Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and the queen of the pin-ups. He's also lent his mastery of pulp and noir to The Shadow, Zorro, and more.
Joining Avallone on Red Sonja: Noir is the incredible Edu Menna, whose moody artwork has wowed readers on titles like Army of Darkness 1979, Alice Cooper, and Miss Fury: Joy Division. This marks Menna's return to the character, a decade in the making, following his work on Red Sonja Annual #4.
