"Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles," an animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for CBS, debuted on September 10, 1966. Each half-hour episode featured a unique format: one segment starring Frankenstein Jr. followed by two segments featuring the Impossibles. The show ran for two successful seasons before being canceled due to growing parental concerns about violence in children's television programming.
FUNKO VINYL SODA: Frankenstein Jr. - $12.38 @ Amazon.com - Order Here!Frankenstein Jr., a technologically advanced giant humanoid robot with flight capabilities, was created by Professor Conroy (voiced by John Stephenson) and operated by his young son, Buzz Conroy (voiced by Dick Beals). Buzz would "energize" Frankie (voiced by Ted Cassidy) using a special ring, while Professor Conroy monitored their "demon detector" to identify threats. Together, they battled an array of monsters and confronted numerous mad scientists bent on world domination. The characters later made a notable cameo appearance in an episode of "Yogi's Space Race" in 1978.
The Impossibles portion of the show featured three rock 'n' roll guitarists who secretly moonlighted as superheroes with extraordinary abilities: Coil Man possessed springs for arms and legs allowing incredible flexibility and bouncing capabilities; Fluid Man could transform his entire body into water to slip through tight spaces; and Multi Man could instantaneously duplicate himself numerous times to overwhelm opponents. Their distinctive powers later inspired the creation of three characters in "The Super Globetrotters" animated series.
The show exemplified the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons when action heroes regularly confronted monsters and villains, establishing itself as a classic in Hanna-Barbera's extensive animation portfolio.Check Out:
