One of the best fast food chains on the west coast is a little gem called Flame Broiler. They market themselves as the healthy alternative to burgers and fried chicken. Their culinary offerings are actually quite healthy and rather simple yet delicious. You take a bowl of either brown or white rice, add either beef, chicken or tofu and top it off with mixed vegetables. Conceptually that may sound rather bland and boring but the real flavor comes from their signature sauces that range from mild to super spicy. Put it all together and you have a healthy yet flavorful meal.
History from the Flame Broiler website:
Young Lee, who had recently graduated from UCLA with a degree in economics, had joined the workforce and often found himself on the road. However, he discovered that restaurants serving healthy meals were few and far between.
Entrepreneurial in nature, in 1995 he opened the first restaurant in Orange County that served simple, healthy fast food. What better way to solve a problem than to solve it yourself?
Word about the healthy food and quick service at Flame Broiler spread, and Young quickly became extremely busy. He developed a very broad customer base. The widely loved concept appealed to many different people.
There are Flame Broiler locations in California, Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee and North Carolina.
