Beautiful Louisiana - A Magical Evening On Bayou Boeuf In Lecompte

What a marvelous evening. The temperature is down and the humidity is low. It was so nice that we actually did our nightly Bible study/devotional outside. Afterwards I took a stroll out to the bayou. I'm in heaven. 70s Sounds Top Ten Hits (9/28/22)

Over the past week I've been getting down to my musical roots which sprung from my childhood in the 1970s. In my opinion it was the last true decade of true American music. Reflecting back this was an amazing time for rock, pop, soul, funk, blues and even the much maligned disco. The decade was a showcase for so many different types of popular music. What happened in the 70s influenced the music of the 80s and beyond (For better or worse). It was a very unique period in music indeed. Here is my top ten list of 70s hits this week:   1. Lou Rawls - You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine (1976) 2. America - A Horse With No Name (1971) 3. Bee Gees - Staying Alive (1977) 4. Candi Stanton-Young Hearts Run Free (1976) 5.  Carole King - I Feel the Earth Move (1971) 6. Eagles - Take It Easy (1972) 7. Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way (1977) 8. Linda Ronstadt - You're No Good (1975) 9. Ringo Starr - Photograph (1973) 10. Chic - I Want Your Love (1978) Check Out: 70s Sounds Top Ten ...

The Real X-Files - Security Guard Films UFO Multiple Times (June 8, 2008)(Istanbul, Turkey)

It was a lucky thing that Turkish security guard Yalcin Yalman brought a video camera with him to work. The 41-year-old was able to capture several UFO sightings over a several month period between May and September 2008 on film near a compound in Istanbul. The night guard was able to compile over two hours of footage of objects that range from saucer-type craft to clustering lights. Yalman wasn't the only one who saw the numerous craft, local residents were often on hand for the sightings, and their voices can be heard in the footage. Yalman told The Sun Newspaper in the UK, “I don’t know what these things are. We filmed them several times and they are totally unknown to us. I was very excited when I saw them and I want the world to know that UFOs do exist”. The footage was reviewed by authorities in Turkey and in the UK and so far experts in both countries have not been able to label it a hoax. Turkish UFO researcher Haktan Akdogan had this to say about the footage, "In thi...

NASA’s DART Mission Hits Asteroid in First-Ever Planetary Defense Test

From NASA (Press Release) After 10 months flying in space, NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) – the world’s first planetary defense technology demonstration – successfully impacted its asteroid target on Monday, the agency’s first attempt to move an asteroid in space. Mission control at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, announced the successful impact at 7:14 p.m. EDT. As a part of NASA’s overall planetary defense strategy, DART’s impact with the asteroid Dimorphos demonstrates a viable mitigation technique for protecting the planet from an Earth-bound asteroid or comet, if one were discovered. “At its core, DART represents an unprecedented success for planetary defense, but it is also a mission of unity with a real benefit for all humanity,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson. “As NASA studies the cosmos and our home planet, we’re also working to protect that home, and this international collaboration turned science fiction into sci...

Blazing Saddles - I used to be known as the Waco Kid

History has taught us that being gunslinger in the American west was hard. If you were good with a gun you probably earned a reputation and other cow punchers with an ego to feed would seek you out to test their skills against yours. It was a risky profession to have, in each encounter on a dusty street in the middle of a frontier town one person lived and the other died. Everyday could entail a literal life and death experience. The west was indeed wild. Imagine the life of one such gunslinger who had earned the title The Waco Kid. As you can imagine someone with such a prestigious title would be constantly harassed by piss-ant  prairie punks who want to take out The Kid. You would be hearing 'Draw' in your sleep. It had to be kinda rough. On one ill-fated day The Kid heard the one sentence that he heard just about every day of his life. 'Reach for it mister' The Kid spun around with guns drawn to find that he was facing an eight year old kid. That was last straw for...
