The Annual Great Cardboard Boat Regatta
This event is not only a SIU campus tradition but has created thousands of participants worldwide. Each spring, aspiring boaters put their engineering and creativity skills to the test, constructing cardboard creations capable of completing the 200-yard course. Contestants can walk away with a number of awards. The most popular award named the "Titanic Award" in which boaters proudly abandon ship for the mightiest sink.

Underground Railroad Spring Bus Tour
Join the Storyteller Tour Guides, outfitted in 19th century period attire, as they travel the sites of the Underground Railroad in Jacksonville, IL.
Learn the fascinating stories of the brave men and women of our history while riding on comfortable modern buses. The tour starts at Illinois College and ends at Woodlawn Farm.
Meet in the Illinois College McGaw Fine Arts Center lobby for registration confirmation beginning at 12:30pm.
The tour begins at 1:00pm with a walk to Beecher Hall, where you will hear a brief lecture on the Underground Railroad and Illinois College. At 1:15pm, you will board buses to the other eight sites. The tour will return to Illinois College at 5:00pm. Tour includes light refreshments. Free parking is available at Illinois College behind McGaw Fine Arts Center. Due to popularity, reservations are a must! Call 217-479-4144. $10, for children under 10- $20. Note: The reservation phone line will open by mid-March.
Celebrate spring with wine tasting, live entertainment and family activities at the Village of Oswego’s Wine on the Fox presented by John Greene Realtor. The event takes place on the banks of the Fox River Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 5 from noon to 6 p.m. at Hudson Crossing Park, 65 N. Harrison St. in Oswego.
