Discover the magic of handcrafted wonder at Rio Grande's Holiday Festival
The power of New Mexico lies in its people, who have long lived together in a blend of languages, traditions, and lifestyles, navigating a lovely yet challenging environment. The state's beauty is truly unique, emerging from its rich history, diverse architecture, vibrant art forms, and lively community festivals. Rural life has been a defining aspect of New Mexico's history, which the state continues to celebrate through events like farmers' markets, Indian markets, Spanish markets, and cultural fiestas held across the state.
The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market on Museum Hill is the world's largest such event, connecting international cultures as traditional artists from across the globe come together to display, demonstrate, and sell their work. Featuring over 150 juried artists from 41 countries, the annual market showcases craftsmanship from places like Hungary, South Sudan, Uganda, and Vanuatu. Coinciding with the market, Santa Fe celebrates Folk Arts Week with an international film festival and public events at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and the Museum of International Folk Art.
