The Los Angeles Daily News - Brock Keeling
The Los Angeles wildfires that have scorched the Palisades, Pasadena, Altadena and Sylmar areas remain at zero containment, with thousands of residents fleeing their homes under evacuation orders. Reel Inn, Cholada Thai, Rosenthal Winery and Moonshadows are among the eateries destroyed in the Palisades fire, with Fox’s, Side Pie, Miya and Everest succumbing to the Eaton blaze.
A handful of unharmed restaurants across L.A. have stepped up to provide food and coffee to evacuees, firefighters and first responders.
According to the Los Angeles Times, chef José Andrés is using his World Central Kitchen organization to provide free sandwiches and water to those in need, while “Yeastie Boy Bagels and its fleet of food trucks are giving away free bagels at evacuation centers.”
A slew of other spots are also providing assistance in the wake of the Eaton, Hurst and Pacific Palisades fires that, as of Wednesday, have torched more than tens of thousands of acres, killed at least 5 and destroyed roughly 1,100 structures since the blazes first ignited on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
