Overcoming Selfishness & Conflict: Pastor James Greer on Spiritual Growth | Journey Church

Self-centered desires are the main source of conflicts, arguments, and fractured relationships. These desires can be concealed and often spark disputes. Regular self-reflection is essential to recognize and address these selfish inclinations. It’s important to refrain from slander and gossip, as they have the power to either uplift or harm others. Additionally, recognizing and submitting to God’s authority over your plans is vital.

Haruo Nakajima: The Man Behind Godzilla, King Kong, Rodan & Mothra | Cinema Legends

Written By Ken Hulsey Monster movie fans often have fond memories of 200-foot-tall creatures like Godzilla, King Kong, Rodan, Mothra, and Varan stomping on buildings as terrified townspeople flee in terror. However, the unsung hero who brought these iconic monsters to life has rarely received credit - Haruo Nakajima, a Japanese actor who donned the heavy rubber costumes from 1954 to 1972 to portray Toho's most famous movie monsters.

Railroading in the South: Stunning Images from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas | Railfan Digest

Story and Photos by Ken Hulsey I've been diligently capturing railroad images across the South over the past three months. My work has taken me through Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, and whenever I spot a train, I make it a point to pull over and get a shot. This is a practice I used to do regularly back in my California days, which has resulted in a sizable collection of images from that region.

How Smart Are We Anyway? - Are We All Turning Into Morons?

Written By Ken Hulsey Lately, I've been questioning the collective intelligence of the human race. It seems like I'm bombarded daily with an endless parade of stupidity. I don't mean to imply that I'm the brightest person around - far from it. I consider myself above average in intelligence, but my recent conversations have led me to believe that I'm an intellectual compared to most people.

The Blues Brothers (1980) - John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's Iconic Comedy | Retro Cinema Classics

The Blues Brothers, released in 1980, is a beloved musical comedy film that has become a cult classic. Directed by John Landis, the movie stars John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as "Joliet" Jake and Elwood Blues, two brothers on a "mission from God" to save the Catholic orphanage where they grew up. Jake and Elwood, characters originally developed from a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live, set out to reunite their old R&B band and organize a big concert to raise the $5,000 needed to pay the orphanage's property tax bill. Along the way, they are pursued by the police, the Illinois Nazi Party, and Jake's jilted fiancée (played by Carrie Fisher) trying to kill them, and Jake's jilted fiancée. The film is packed with unforgettable musical numbers featuring some of the biggest names in R&B, blues and soul, including electrifying performances by James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and John Lee Hooker. Set in and around Chicago, the m...

Carter-Kelley Lumber Co 2-6-0 Steam Locomotive No 3 | Texas Forestry Museum, Lufkin

Photos and Story By Ken Hulsey Yesterday, my travels took me through Lufkin, one of my favorite cities in East Texas. I've been wanting to check out the old railroading equipment at the Texas Forestry Museum, so I made sure to set aside time on this trip to visit. Admission to the museum is surprisingly free, so I was able to stroll right up to their wonderful displays without any issues. I was struck by the number of families taking advantage of the warm spring day to enjoy the museum's outdoor attractions, with some even having picnics on the lawn.

Louisiana State Capitol Building in Baton Rouge - Iconic Architecture | Explore Louisiana

Photos and Story By Ken Hulsey I couldn't resist sharing more photos of the State Capitol Building in Baton Rouge. Even though I just posted a bunch of images last December, I'm enamored with our capitol and had to capture it again on my latest visit. I love strolling through the adjacent park - it's truly one of my favorite spots in Louisiana. As I wander the grass and trees, I can't help but gaze up at the grand building and wonder about the conversations and legislation happening within those walls. Sadly, not much impactful work seems to get done these days, but that's a discussion for another time.

Darth Vader Ran for President of Ukraine? - Bizarre But True

Written By Ken Hulsey In 2014, it may be hard to believe, but a man in a Darth Vader costume actually ran for president of Ukraine. I first wrote about this bizarre story eleven years ago, after stumbling upon it in the Huffington Post. Back in 2010, a group of Ukrainian activists formed the United Internet Party, dedicated to lowering taxes, downsizing bureaucracy, and banning the sale of GMO products. In 2014, the party tried to gain international attention by running Darth Vader as their presidential candidate, even insisting that Vader was the party's true nominee.
