The reports of giant, hairy creatures in Siberia just keep coming. Over the past several months, numerous reports have emerged of encounters with Yetis in the Kemerovo Region, made by the local Shor people and hunters. The Russian scientific community has mounted several expeditions, all of which have returned with strong evidence that the mysterious creature may indeed inhabit the area.
In fact, there may be so many of the creatures that they are cutting into the Shor's natural food supply. The Shor have reported that their leek crops - a form of wild onion that both the Yeti and the Shor share a passion for - are being gobbled up by something that leaves behind giant, five-toed footprints. Given the tribe's numerous encounters with the creatures, it didn't take long for them to identify the culprit.
The Yeti appear to live in or around the Azasskaya Cave, the location of many of the scientific community's recent expeditions. Over the past several weeks, the local Tashtagol District administrator, Vladimir Makuta, has received 14 new written reports of Yeti sightings near the cave and the nearby Mrassu River. With the sheer number of credible reports coming out of the area, it seems there is a very real possibility that the elusive Yeti will finally be discovered by scientists in Siberia.
