OK, three, two, one - Let's Jam!

I'm a little late in posting this so most of you have probably already seen this.  Over the weekend Netflix shared the opening to their live-action version of the Japanese anime series Cowboy Bebop. Check it out! If the series is anywhere as good as that opening Netflix is going to have a hit on their hands. Here is the original Japanese anime version for comparison: Not an exact match but truly close enough. From Netflix: COWBOY BEBOP is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them. Based on the beloved anime series, COWBOY BEBOP is executive produced by André Nemec, J...

Pink Lady (1980)(NBC) - From The Land Of Forgotten Television

Way back in 1980 Sid and Marty Kroft, the makers of H.R. Pufnstuf and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, somehow convinced the folks over at NBC that a prime-time comedy/variety show starring Japan's hottest singing duo Pink Lady (Mie and Kei) and comedian Jeff Altman would be something that Americans would want to watch on a Friday nights instead of getting drunk. Unfortunately being drunk would end up being the only way anyone could make it through an episode of this poorly conceived mess of bad stand-up comedy, bad sketch comedy and Pink Lady lip syncing American disco hits. The fact that Pink Lady were indeed trying to mouth the words to English songs was so obvious that the makers of the show just gave up after a couple of episodes and let the duo just sing their hit Japanese songs instead. The comedy routines weren't funny, more guest stars than an episode of Love Boat didn't interest anyone and American audiences understood about as much Japanese as Mie and Kei did Engli...

Tampa Has No Answer For Stafford As Rams Offense Shreds Defending Super Bowl Champs

The Los Angeles gave up a lot of draft capitol to acquire quarterback Matthew Stafford from the Detroit Lions believing he was the missing piece to take their offense to another level. On Sunday Stafford showed everyone that the Rams were right by shredding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 343 yards and 4 touchdowns (no interceptions). Stafford was obviously jittery as the game began, missing several wide open receivers, but after his nerves wore off the Rams passing game became all but unstoppable from the beginning of the second quarter on scoring on every possession until late in the fourth quarter. From The Official Rams Website: A strong offensive performance led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receivers Cooper Kupp and DeSean Jackson powered the Los Angeles Rams (3-0) to a 34-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium. Stafford finished 27 of 38 for 343 yards and four touchdowns, Kupp nine catches for 96 yards and...

You Can't Do Life Alone

Sailboats Off Newport Beach California - By Ken Hulsey I want to share something very important this morning. After everything that my family has experienced over the past two months something has become crystal clear. You can't navigate life's problems, be them tiny or gigantic, without a relationship with Jesus. I'm not talking about a casual prayer now and then but an actual relationship in which you communicate with, and are open to receiving communication from, our savior.  A true relationship with God can get you through sorrow, addiction, a financial crisis and even illness from a global pandemic. Over the past couple of months my family has endured our fair share of issues and honestly we couldn't have made it without our ever growing faith. No matter what came our way we kept our faith in Jesus because we knew in our hearts that He had our backs. We could have easily turned away from our faith due to the things we were going through but we didn't. I have to...

Rio Grande Foundation Looking For Support To Defeat Albuquerque Stadium Boondoggle

This week I received this email from Rio Grande Foundation President Paul Gessing about their efforts to derail a proposed $70 million soccer stadium that would be built in downtown Albuquerque. I have to admit that when I first heard about these stadium plans I was torn. On one hand Albuquerque could use another attraction to draw possible new residents and tourist dollars for the city. After I thought about it further and I listened to RGF's argument that tax dollars could be better allocated for other more pressing needs like hiring more police to help fight the city's crime problem I changed my mind on the matter.    From Paul Gessing: Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller has decided that, despite rampant crime and a homeless problem that has grown dramatically worse on his watch, building a new soccer stadium for New Mexico United should be a top city priority. The stadium itself, to be located somewhere in the vicinity of Downtown, will cost taxpayers in excess of $70...
