Tulsi Gabbard - Our freedom comes from God, not from any other person or government

Tulsi Gabbard's speech at CPAC this past weekend was probably the most honest and truly memorable words that I have heard come out of a politicians mouth in well over three decades. In a mere 26  minutes the former congresswoman and presidential candidate truthfully broke down the present state of our government, gave a civics lesson that every American needs to hear and (surprisingly) offered suggestions on how to get this country back on track. Spoiler, the answer is a renewed faith in God and returning to a for the people type of government laid out by our forefathers in the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. Vegas Baby!: The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace

I have to admit that I really miss living a mere three-hour drive away from the hotels, attractions, casinos, eateries and shopping on the Las Vegas Strip. There really isn't anything like it anywhere else on the planet. You don't even have to gamble or take in a show to be entertained here. I have actually spent an evening on the strip just looking at the sights and watching people. It was several hours of quality entertainment and it didn't cost me a cent.  If you really want to see some wacky stuff try wandering around the Strip at 4 am after the bars and clubs start to wind down.  A few years ago I walked around the Strip with my camera and shot some interesting sights that most tourists simply miss rushing from casino to show to restaurant and then back to casino again. Most of the pics were taken at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace (Hotel and Casino) which is the premiere shopping experience in the southwest. Most shopping centers don't contain exact copies of R...

Louisiana Railroads: Old Industrial Switcher - Georgetown, LA

Tucked away off the beaten path where Highway 165 crosses over the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad on tracks that serve the Railmark facility in Georgetown, Louisiana sits an old industrial switcher. I have visited this site many times and I believe that the unit no longer functions although this time it appeared to be hooked up to a line of tank cars. The section of track that the locomotive and it's accompanying rolling stock continues north across State Road 1230 and into the nearby woods. I believe that the trackage used to belong to the Louisiana Midland Railroad that once interchanged with the Missouri Pacific (now Union Pacific) at Georgetown.  I tried to find out a little history about the locomotive online to no avail.  I'm going to leave this one open ended because I know that after I post this some local railroad buff will fill me in on all the details and correct me on my assumptions. The Golden Rule (Part 2 of 2) - Alistair Begg

A Stream in the San Bernardino Mountains, California by Ken Hulsey Christians are to love others in a way that’s distinct from that of the culture. But are we standing out? Listen to Truth for Life as Alistair examines the Golden Rule, presenting an uncomfortable challenge—and pointing out a surprising reward!   A Christian Manifesto   Luke 6:20-49 Of the teachings of Jesus, few are as familiar—or as frequently misunderstood—as those contained in Luke 6:20–49. Over the centuries, believers and unbelievers alike have been stirred by Christ’s lessons on the Law of Love, the Golden Rule, forgiving one’s enemies, and bearing good fruit. But are these famous words really just a collection of inspiring moral teaching? Or do they offer us something even greater? In this series, Alistair Begg invites us to revisit one of Jesus’ most well-known sermons and see it for what it truly is: a “manifesto” for Christian living that points to our need for a Savior. Understood rightly, Jesus’ ...
