Back in the 1980s my family traveled to the small town of Wetumka, Oklahoma for my father's high school reunion. Since Wetumka was a small town. and I was getting tired of hearing my old man talk about his glory days, I was getting kinda bored so I set out on foot with my Kodak camera to explore.
I came across an abandoned old house and I loved how it looked so I pointed my camera and pressed the button. The resulting image has always been one of my favorite photos of all time. It's amazing to me how at that young age I was able to compose such a great image. It is also amazing how this one image was so prophetic.
Here I am some forty years later and I'm running around Louisiana taking pictures of abandoned places just like this. Little did I know way back then that my love of old and rustic images would someday become so prominent in my life.
It's good to see that this experience taking photos around Wetumka would end up paying dividends all these years later.
