I ended 2022 with a post about optimism and sunrises feeling that 2023 would be a brighter year full of positive change. So far this brand new year has been everything but bright and cheery here in the central Louisiana town of Lecompte. The first day of the year saw the area blanketed with fog. Today was equally as dank with the approach of yet another storm system.
I was able to get out just before sunset beating the upcoming rain to take my evening walk around town. It's an unusually warm night and you can feel that the weather is soon going to turn nasty. The visual is nothing sort of depressing. If you add up the crumbling abandoned structures, bare leafless trees and the ominous sky you get a picture that could really drag down your spirits.
A quick trip out to Bayou Boeuf provided me more opportunities to gaze upon more bleak looking scenery. I do have to admit that though everything looked dreary walking out to the bayou always makes me feel good. It's all about how you look at things I suppose.
One person may find these images depressing while someone else may see them as something beautiful. In the case of these images I suppose that both things can be true all at the same time.
I'm still standing by my prediction that 2023 is going to be a year of positive change despite the fact that Mother Nature seems not to have gotten the memo yet.
