Disney Releases First Trailer For SNOW WHITE And The Fans Don't Seem To Dig It

At about 1:30 in the morning Disney sent out the first trailer for their live-action remake of Snow White. I was surprised to open up my email and find the The Mouse Factory had deemed me worthy of receiving one of those announcements. I immediately gave the clip a look and I honestly felt conflicted by what I saw.

First off, Disney is billing this one as a live-action remake even though about 90% of it is obviously computer generated. The actress who plays Snow White, Rachel Zegler, doesn't really fit the part and really fails to meet the "fairest one of all" criteria. To really accentuate this you have Zegler cast alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, which I kinda like, but having one of the most beautiful women in the world being obsessed with this Snow White's beauty just comes off as ludacris.

The Evil Queen asks her magic mirror, "Magic mirror on the wall, who's the fairest one of all?"

The mirror responds, "My Queen, you are the fairest here so true. But Snow White is a thousand times more beautiful than you"
Yeah, I don't think that anyone is buying that.

After the trailer was released on YouTube both critics and fans alike began to voice a bevy of harsh criticisms about the film. Many were puzzled about the casting of Rachel Zegler (like I was), thought that Snow White's costume looked like it had been purchased at Party City, disliked the CGI Dwarfs, and yet many others called the whole spectacle 'weird'.

Here is the trailer:

From Disney:
“Disney’s Snow White” is a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film. The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy. “Disney’s Snow White” is directed by Marc Webb and produced by Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer, and features all-new original songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

As a coincidence, our friends over at Abandoned Films put out this trailer for a fictitious 1950s style live-action version of Snow White, and to honest, I think that I would rather see this version.

Know that's a Snow White that could give Gal Gadot's Evil Queen some competition for 'fairest one of all."

Abandoned Louisiana - The Pirate's Cove Water Park / Resort in Iowa

About ten minutes east of the city of Lake Charles are the remains of an abandoned water park . The decaying structures are clearly visible from the busy I-10 freeway and for years drivers have wondered about it's history and why it was left for dead.   The Pirate's Cove Water Park actually has a rather interesting story behind it. A story that has been repeated over and over again, unfortunately, here in Louisiana. It's just another example of how government bureaucracy in this state killed an enterprise before it could ever get off the ground. Construction on the park began in 2008 and it was scheduled to open sometime in 2010. The sprawling complex was envisioned as an oasis from the hot summer heat that would feature luxurious amenities like a 900 foot long lazy river, a giant splash pad for the kids and eventually a five star hotel. The Pirate's Cove would have been an obvious tourist destination that could have brought much needed tax dollars and employment oppo...

Abandoned Louisiana - The Old Hightower Family Home in Dodson

I have to admit that I have been hanging on to these photos for a couple of months now just looking for the right minute to post them. Back in November I was traveling up to El Dorado, Arkansas and I passed through the small town of Dodson. While driving through town my eyes spotted a very attractive old house up on a hill and I just had to stop and take a few photos of it. I honestly don't know the history of this house, but I'm sure some local will send me message telling me all about it (and someone did see the UPDATE ), and it's not as cool as an abandoned railroad locomotive or old movie house but it really spoke to me. I have to wonder about the people who used to live in it and how it ended up in the state it is now. Anyone can see that it was a beautiful house long ago. What happened? How did such a grand residence end up like this? Those are questions that I can't answer unfortunately.  Unfortunately a site like this isn't all that uncommon here in Louisian...
