18. Look Around You And Recognize The True Blessings In Your Life
What I've discovered through prayer and many conversations with the Lord is that it was necessary for my spiritual growth that I be relocated here. I needed to be removed from the way of life that I enjoyed so that I could focus on my faith without distractions. I know now that if I had stayed in California I would, in all likelihood, not have developed the kind of relationship I have with Jesus.
The Lord also put on my heart that I had been very ungrateful for all the blessings that He had bestowed on me over the years. Had I ever taken the time to thank him for the blessings of living near the beach, the wealth of great comics and toys He supplied, the great museums we used to enjoy, the beautiful mountains, the temperate weather, good jobs or even the quality of cable television I enjoyed?

17. What Does The Bible Say About Addiction
Any addiction, whether to alcohol, drugs, prescription medicines, pornography, gambling, cigarettes, or even food, is a form of idolatry. The first commandment is, “You shall not have any other gods before Me.” The second commandment is, “You shall not bow down to them or serve them” (see Exodus 20). When a person is addicted, they are really bowing down and serving that addiction as their god. It is the sin of idolatry. They become a slave to it and they are held in bondage. Jesus said, “Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin” (John 8:34).

Our church exists to help bring people far from God, close to God one step at a time. Every week, we see marriages and relationships restored, addictions overcome and lives changed in the people at Journey Church. One thing is a fact: I mess up, you mess up, WE ALL MESS UP. Don’t wait to get your life together before you come to church, come just as you are.
13. Knowledge And Wisdom Are Not The Same And The Difference Is More Than Profound
Wisdom and intellect or education are not the same. The Bible says knowledge alone puffs up, making you arrogant. Knowledge is for the head but wisdom is for the heart. Knowledge teaches you, but wisdom transforms you. Wisdom is supernatural. More than information, wisdom is application. We live in a world that is drowning in information and starving for wisdom. Proverbs 14:8 says, “The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way….” Wisdom is understanding why you do the things you do. When you are at a loss and don’t have a clue, ask God! He is not silent. He is speaking today.

I just wanted to quickly share this very powerful and inspiring message I watched yesterday by Pastor Leanne Matthesius of Awaken Church in San Diego. She was actually preaching this message as guest speaker at Legacy Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I feel that that her core message on how the church and Christians in general should be emboldened in this time of crisis in our nation.

Scripture teaches in Amos 3:3 How can two walk together unless they be agreed? God brought people from every nation of the world to make and create America — a place that would be a beacon of light to the world that God is real and that He sent Jesus to save us; a light that other nations would envy; a light that when a nation honors God, He will cause it, them to prosper; a nation like no other nation; one nation under God; “one nation.”

After everything that my family has experienced over the past two months something has become crystal clear. You can't navigate life's problems, be them tiny or gigantic, without a relationship with Jesus. I'm not talking about a casual prayer now and then but an actual relationship in which you communicate with, and are open to receiving communication from, our savior.

Did your parents ever tell you that you were an accident, that they didn't plan to have you? Many people live with a misconception that they are alive due to some sort of error that their lives have no real purpose. If we take a look at scripture we will discover that the exact opposite is true.

I intended to post this message on Sunday morning before church, but something told me not to. All week I had been listening to sermons from different pastors from different parts of the country. I was amazed that there was a common theme in just about every single message, the story of Joseph from the Old Testament. I felt it was important to share those sermons simply on the amazing fact that, like I mentioned, there were pastors from all over the country preaching about Joseph. It was obvious that God was speaking this message directly to me and I knew that there had to be others that would be blessed by hearing it.

It has become very apparent to me that the Lord has taken full advantage of my life here in Louisiana to teach a lot about my life and my faith. To be honest life down here in the South can be hard at times and through those hard times I have learned to trust in God and to remember just how great a blessing some of the most mundane things that we count on every day actually are.

Over the past couple of weeks I have heard a message being preached from several different pulpits, articles and even songs. This message is that it is time for Christians to stop being silent, rise into action, and speak the truth publicly about the message of Jesus Christ and the state of society as a whole.

3. Gratitude, Generosity and A Wonderful Life
In this season for giving and sharing it is indeed important to give thanks to God for the blessings He has imparted on each and every one of us. But, I believe that we should take the time to reflect on these blessings and search our souls to make sure that we are truly grateful to God for what He, through His grace, provides. The Lord has made it a priority for me to learn just what being grateful truly means. We have to learn and understand that everything we either own or simply enjoy comes from grace. If we don't express genuine gratitude to the source of all these things (Jesus) they may be removed from our lives just as easily as they have been added. As in my case the removal of such items lead to the realization that I was never truly grateful for them. I now have a different perspective on life and my relationship with Jesus. If you open your heart and mind the Almighty Teacher will indeed teach you many things about yourself that you never understood before.
