If you were a rail fan in the 1970s you are probably are familiar with the Christmas cards painted by the artist Howard Fogg that were for sale in every railroad magazine at the time. I remember being a young lad looking through the pages of Trains Magazine and being amazed by those incredible painted cards. I always wanted some of those but being a kid I didn't have the money to order them.
Let's flash forward to 2022. I'm now an adult with a job and the money that comes with it and, surprise, I still can't afford those Christmas cards. In some ways it's funny and in others it's ironic but those classic Christmas Cards are now collectors items and if you can find any online they fetch good money.
Actually, to be honest, these cards kind of warrant those elevated prices because there really aren't many out there. As a matter of fact it took me a couple of hours just to find these examples online. I was truly surprised by how rare even images of these cards are to find. Finding examples to purchase are even harder to find.
Well I did the work so that rail fans across the globe can enjoy the wonderful work of artist Howard Fogg and the amazing Christmas cards that featured his work way back in the 1970s.
