The Los Angeles Rams got one of the steals of the 2022 NFL Draft when they landed Safety Quentin Lake from UCLA in the sixth round. Seldom does history repeat itself in professional sports but the Rams also landed a starting caliber Safety in the sixth round of the 2020 draft when they selected Jordan Fuller out of Ohio State. Fuller quickly worked himself into the starting lineup and has been a solid player ever since. I predict that Lake will replace Taylor Rapp on the field by mid season.
Draft experts believe that Lake will be a career backup and special teams ace. The game tape says something else. Being a UCLA fan I was delighted when the Rams got Lake. He honestly made big play after big play for the Bruins last year. He has exceptional ball tracking skills, Lake either picks off a pass thrown in his direction or makes contact with the receiver the split second the ball arrives. He is sure tackler, knows where the football is at all times and has the speed to chase down runners from the opposite side of the field.
