On Saturday night UCLA proved that the PAC-12 is as good as the SEC by defeating LSU in a commanding way.
Before the two teams faced off in the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, CA) most experts believed that a Pac-12 offensive line would be dominated by a powerful SEC defensive front. Despite that, it was the UCLA offense that pushed the LSU defense around all night long pilling up 210 rushing yards lead by Zach Charbonnet's 11 carries for 117 yards and 1 touchdown and Brittain Brown's 17 carries for 96 yards and 1 touchdown.
Conversely LSU couldn't get a running game going against UCLA's defense managing only 46 yards on 25 rushing attempts. This forced the Tigers to rely on the arm of quarterback Max Johnson and an out of this world performance by receiver Kayshon Boutte who's three touchdowns kept LSU from being routed by the Bruins.
It was a sight to see when UCLA ball carriers broke away from LSU tacklers for huge gains that resulted in touchdowns.
It was an outstanding victory for a UCLA football program that is working on rebuilding.
Shows you what the experts think they know.
The USC Trojans also had a commanding 30 - 7 victory over San Jose State.
Even the New Mexico Lobos were able to hold on to beat Houston Baptist 27-17.
