Dozens of craft and food vendors, Carnival rides and livestock shows are on tap for the annual Rapides Parish Fair this week.
It opens Wednesday and continues through Oct. 16 at 8149 U.S. 71 South in Alexandria.
Here's what you need to know:
Tickets: General admission tickets cost $2 at the gate, free for children 5 and younder. You can also buy tickets online at rapidesparishfair.org.
Rides: The midway will be open from 4-11 p.m. Wednesday, which will be One Ticket Discount Day. All rides will cost one less ticket than regular admission. Rides require anywhere from two to five tickets. Individual tickets are $1 apiece. A group of 30 tickets is $25. The price for 50 tickets is $40.Advance tickets are available at Cenla Broadcasting, with 50 advance tickets available through Thursday for $25, a more than 50 percent savings over the gate price.
Thursday night is Date Night, where two can ride for the price of one if they have a Date Night sticker. The midway will be open from 2-11 p.m.
Friday will be Armband Friday. The midway will be open from 1 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Armbands for $22 allow visitors access to rides from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Patrons can save $3 on armbands with a donation to the local Food Bank.
The midway will be open 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Armbands are $27.
The fair concludes Sunday. Armbands will again be available for $27 for ride access from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
